Many people find it difficult when they first take the plunge and purchase a product online. It's not uncommon to want to examine the specific item you want to purchase so you know exactly what you're getting. So why make the switch in the first place if so many people find it difficult to leave their traditions behind? The answer is two words: hot deals. Think past the Sunday circular that offers some decent prices and understand that purchasing from an online company saves them enough in overhead that you can find some really hot deals that a brick and mortar location could never rival.

Now don't take this as advice to simply start purchasing the products you want from no name vendors who offer dirt cheap prices. There are plenty of sites out there that offer a community of people who always have their eye out for any hot deal that crosses their path. So whether you're looking for a place to show and tell what products you've managed to safely secure well under the normal price or your just looking to snag some hot deals, the following places will be your best bet to start.

KeepCash.com offers one of the easiest homepages out of all sites that list hot deals, KeepCash.com provides the casual browser with the ability to see exactly what the community has found on a daily basis and even greys out the deals that have come and gone. Clicking on any of the deals will actually expand the listing, providing specific information about the deal or product and often offering a comparison of the prices found elsewhere. There are always plenty of comments on the hot deals they list on the front page, so definitely make sure to read up before you take the plunge as some offers might require more than your willing to do in order to shave off a few bucks.

Don't forget! Those hot deals listed on the front page are just scratching the surface of what's been discovered in the KeepCash.com forum. If you're really dedicated to catching a hot deal before it busts, you'll want to spend your time in the forum, as these posts require a few reputable thumbs up before they make it to the front page. To save time, you can easily search the categories that you want and avoid the others by utilizing their tags system.

Slickdeals.net - If for some reason you hate the idea of seeing anything graphically appealing and prefer your hot deals listed out instead of being a little compact and tidy, Slickdeals.net was built for you. The main page provides you with the most recent deals the site operator has posted. Yes you read that correctly, the site operator posts the deals that you e-mail over to them. The overall feel is that this was more designed easily integrate into an RSS Feed then be a site you frequent.

They also offer some form of advanced membership that keeps you posted on new and expiring deals and also gives you access to their forums section. While it's not the most user friendly, the deals are up to date.

FatWallet.com steps up the complexety a little bit by offering you more than just hot deals. FatWallet.com focuses on providing you with a forum for a hot deals posted by the community, a section called big fat deals to promote deals the most popular hot deals, coupons from major named stores, and their cash back service. You're going to face a lot more ads, and you'll come face to face with a request to register for the site before you can see any of the big fat deals. While there is definitely a community feel involved in the elevation of hot deals to big fat deals, the site comes across more as a place to find coupons and small savings at bigger named stores instead of saving big off of smaller named places that other people have already courageous bit the bullet and tried for the benefit of others.

Honorable Mention: Woot.com - Picture finding yourself at a flee market and your eye catches a crate full of 7,000 walkie-talkies that are still new in box. Woot.com would be the person who buys them up and sells them. Woot.com seems to attract the strangest assortment of hot deals. While you'll probably pass on a good majority of what they have to offer, take to time to check out what hot deals they're offering as it's a "deal a day" website. It's always a good idea to register for Woot.com in advanced, because all of their items are in limited quantities and if you miss buying them, there's no guarantee you'll see it on there again.

Two big things to keep in mind at Woot.com: The better the item, the more likely it's a return or a refurbish. And make sure to ALWAYS purchase the maximum quantity when they sell their B.O.C. (Bag of Crap or Bandoleer of Carrots, you decide) as shipping is the same price no matter how many you by. Besides that, the witty humor will keep you entertained even if you pass on the daily hot deal that Woot.com provides.

So while you may not necessarily be an expert, you've now got a sound footing on how to save some money through taking advantage of hot deals online. If it seems overwhelming at first, just sit back and watch, you wouldn't fight an old lady at a department store for a deal you weren't sure you wanted so loosen up the trigger finger and keep your eyes peeled.

As a final piece of advice, B&M refers to a "Brick and Mortar" store and YMMV means Your Milage May Vary or basically, it worked for me but may or may not for you. If you have any tips or suggestions on other sites to feature, email me! Good Luck!
